Booking a consultation at Skinvet Ireland is the first step to relieving your pet’s skin, ear, paw or claw condition.

I took my old dog down to Kathryn and the team in Skinvet last week. I cannot say how fantastic the whole experience was. Kathryn diagnosed my dog’s problems and suggested treatment and I only wish I had got down to her sooner as we have had years of vets visits, etc and nothing was working. The whole experience was calm and kind. My dog was relaxed and happy to be there. If you are struggling with skin issues with your pet, don’t hesitate to book an appointment. Your pet’s consultation at Skinvet

Important information about your first consultation at Skinvet Ireland:

• Complete and submit your patient history form – the information you provide is vital for our dermatologists to help your pet.
• It is very important that the person who is mainly responsible for the pet’s care at home attends the appointment. Due to time constraints, it will not be possible for the vet to repeat the first appointment with another person on the phone afterwards.
• Allow at least one hour for your first consultation with your pet at Skinvet – longer appointment times allow us to correctly diagnose and treat your pet.
• You may be asked to hold your pet for skin sampling. Our dermatologists will take samples from your pet’s skin, coat, paws and ears to examine under the microscope.
• Our dermatologists will examine your pet’s skin thoroughly and will look at skin samples under the microscope during the consultation
• If your pet requires further tests (such as blood tests, allergy tests, biopsies), the costs of these tests will be discussed with you before proceeding.
• The treatment plan for your pet will be discussed with you during the consultation. The cost (per month or per year) of the treatment plan will be discussed with you before proceeding.
• Depending on your pet’s condition, 1-2 follow-up phone calls to check on your pet’s progress are included with your consultation

How much is a consultation at Skinvet?

First Consultation

• €160 – hour-long appointment; includes all of the above (see “Your pet’s consultation at Skinvet”)
• Extra costs include further tests or any medication/treatments prescribed for your pet’s skin. Additional costs are discussed and authorised by you before proceeding.

Recheck/Second Consultation

• €80 – 45min appointment; includes skin/ear sampling, microscopic examination of skin samples, treatment plan.
• Extra costs include further tests or any medication/treatments prescribed for your pet’s skin. Additional costs are discussed and authorised by you before proceeding.

Payment & Pet Insurance

• All goods and services must be paid for in full on the day of the consultation or procedure; there are no credit/payment plan facilities available. Payment is accepted by cash or credit/debit card only, and cheques are not accepted. You will be issued with a full receipt on payment.
• If you have health insurance for your pet, we can either give you all the information you need to submit the claim yourself, or we can submit the claim on your behalf for a small administration fee. We are unable to facilitate direct claims. 

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so we can accommodate another patient from our waiting list. If you do not attend your appointment without notifying us, you will be required to pay the consultation fee in advance of your next appointment. We reserve the right to cancel an appointment, or not offer our services to a pet owner, at our discretion.
